Second and Third Year Awards
If you have a project that lasts two or three years and your sponsor has committed for the whole period, you must state this in your first application.
You must then reapply for your second (and third) year funding EACH YEAR, completing a new application form with your sponsor each time. Each new application will be considered on its merits and in the light of available funds. Please note that there is no guarantee that a second or third year of a project will be funded.
If you have applied for sponsorship for more than one year, you must remember the Scaled Funding Rule. Under this rule, in Year One of a project we can fund 100% of the Sponsor’s input: but in Year Two we can only sponsor 50% of their input and in Year Three, only 25% of their input, should further grants be awarded.
This will be the case unless the 50% or 25% of the sponsor’s investment is less than the minimum Sportsmatch grant of £1,000, in which case you will be awarded no less than £1,000.
For applicants whose second or third year of a project was due to commence between November 2007 and May 2008, please note that you are still eligible to apply to Sportsmatch for match funding. All projects funded in this financial year need to be delivered in their entirety by the 31st March 2009.
