Important news from Sportsmatch and Sport England
The management of Sportsmatch was transferred to Sport England as planned on 1 April 2007.
Sport England remains fully committed to the Sportsmatch brand (which is unaffected by the transfer) and its work. All seven members of staff previously employed by Sportsmatch are now employed by Sport England.
Sport England has now initiated a top-to-bottom review of Sportsmatch’s business operations and management structures. Staff affected by the recent transfer will be fully involved in the review process. The applications process for funding continues and panel meetings scheduled remain very much “business as usual”.
Sport England will assess the review recommendations and decide how to build on Sportsmatch’s excellent track record of funding grassroots and community sport in England.
Sport England is committed to attracting additional investment from the private sector into community sport. Sportsmatch has already proved itself successful at doing this. Since 1992 it has brought in over £48 million from the commercial sector for community sports projects.
